History

The merger between BPU Banca Scpa and Banca Lombarda Spa became effective on the 1st of April 2007. On the same date, BPU Banca changed its name to UBI Banca Scpa.

In October 2015, UBI Banca was the first Banca Popolare to become an Spa (joint stock company).

 

Born as a federal, multifunctional and integrated Group, following a resolution by Extraordinary Shareholders' Meeting held on 14th October 2016 UBI Banca reorganized its corporate structure and as a consequence its distribution network, transitioning from market coverage by means of seven network banks - Banca Popolare di Bergamo, Banco di Brescia, Banca Regionale Europea, Banca Commercio e Industria, Banca di Valle Camonica, Banca Popolare di Ancona, Banca Carime -  to direct management of business by merging these banks into UBI Banca. 

 

On 21st November 2016, Banca Popolare Commercio e Industria Spa and Banca Regionale Europea Spa were merged by incorporation into UBI Banca Spa. On 20th February 2017, a second wave followed including Banca Popolare di Bergamo Spa, Banco di Brescia Spa, Banca di Valle Camonica Spa, Banca Popolare di Ancona Spa and Banca Carime Spa.

 

On 10th May 2017 UBI Banca acquired Nuova Banca delle Marche, Nuova Banca dell’Etruria e del Lazio and Nuova Cassa di Risparmio di Chieti. The three banks were also merged by incorporation into UBI Banca respectively on 23rd October 2017, on 27th November 2017 and on 26th February 2018, as approved on May 11th, 2017 by the Supervisory Board of UBI Banca.

 

Following the success of the Public Exchange and Purchase Offer launched on 17th February 2020 by Intesa Sanpaolo, on 5th August 2020 UBI Banca became a part of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group.

The UBI Banca share, listed on the FTSE MIB, was delisted on 5th October 2020.

UBI Banca was incorporated into Intesa Sanpaolo with effect from 12th April 2021.
